Landscape

Corfu, is the most northerly of the Ionian Islands, and is often referred to as the "Green Island". In the middle ages Venetian travellers introduced the olive tree to the island and these now form a wonderful display over most a the land. It is also the birthplace of HRH Prince Phillip, The Duke of Edinburgh, and was home to the naturalist Gerald Durrell OBE.

The Wild North of Corfu has widely contrasting scenery, sandy beaches, hidden rocky coves, lush olive groves and wild barren mountain sides.

The Climate in Corfu is generally mild (see chart).

November to March sees a regular rainfall which allows wonderful displays of spring flowers to amaze the many tourists who enjoy the many walks around the island. Adding colour to the abundant flora that awaits.

Some of the islands best beaches for swimming are found here, while the long sandy beaches of Acharavi, Roda, Agios Spiridon and Kalamaki also provide wonderful views of Albania and fun for boat spotting. Both Agios Spiridon and Kalamaki beaches are surrounded by olive groves and are excellent for families and offer many superb facilities for those more adventurous than the traditional sun worshipers.

Under the menu "Gallery" you will find 120 photos with zoom function.
